Home Fire Safety

What is Home Fire Safety?

We do not see hazard in our homes and fire safety is not something we all think about or get taught, for instance did you know that you lose your sense of smell when you are asleep? So does your pet!!! No smoke detector means no warning.

We will help you to identify the main causes of fire and to adopt the best method of detecting and escaping a fire should one occur, a basic home fire safety plan will improve yours and your families survivability by 90%.

Always accept fire courses at work, it’s free ‘life skills learning’.

One of the greatest falsehoods in our time is to say ‘it will never happen to me’ so you must be informed, prepared, and mindful of the dangers of fire and you need to ensure that you have prepared the following:

1. You must have working smoke detectors (no sense of smell, but we can still hear a warning).
2. Where possible ensure all doors are closed on front rooms and kitchens at night to protect the escape route.
3. You must have an emergency escape plan for ‘everyone’ in your home (get out & stay out).
4. You must ensure that all escape routes are kept clear and accessible (no trip hazards).
5. You must make sure everyone knows how to call the fire service (or wake a neighbour).
6. You must have an assembly point where you can meet up (ensure you are all out and safe).
7. Do not charge e-bikes or e-scooters inside you home.
8. Never leave candles, tealights, or joss sticks unattended.
