Frequently Asked Questions

This is dependent on both the type of business risks and staff levels, for instance if you are a large site such as warehousing and manufacturing you will need to take into account both the travel distances between fire points and levels of staffing. Whereas within an office environment it may be sufficient to only have trained Fire Marshals using extinguishers. If you have a catering kitchen involving the use of deep fat fryers it would be sensible to train all kitchen staff so that everyone would be competent and confident in the use of the Wet Chemical fire extinguishers for that specific risk.
Again this is dependent on both the type of business risks and staff levels as you need to ensure that there is sufficient cover for sickness, holidays, maternity leave and even lunch breaks, Fire Marshals should also be able to carry out their duties and be in a place of safety such as on a protected staircase making their way to or at the assembly point within 3 minutes to reduce risk, and so managing large site areas must be taken into account.
Fire Extinguisher courses are 3 hours in duration which include the demonstration with the Fire Marshal course 3.5 hours. We would always recommend that consideration is given to clients having Fire Marshal courses over Fire Extinguisher as the extra 30 minutes makes the difference and is at no extra cost.
We work on a maximum of 15 persons per course, however, this does rely on a sufficiently sized training room for comfort.
Yes, all Fire Extinguisher and Fire Marshals courses have a theory and practical element where a CO2 will be demonstrated within the classroom and a Water Extinguisher is demonstrated outside where staff can use it in a suitable area. We are unable to demonstrate Foam, Dry Powder, or Wet Chemical extinguishers as they are hazardous to the environment and as a result we no longer provide live fire demonstrations.
Yes, we provide each attendee with a comprehensive 36-page glossy booklet which covers all aspects of the course contents to include Fire extinguisher guidance, the role and responsibilities of the Fire Marshal, company legislative requirements, and more, and is a high quality and easy to read fire safety guide.
All certificates are effective for 3 years before re-training is due, however, it is always recommend that consideration is given to bi-annual training for Marshal / Wardens, and kitchen staff due to their levels of responsibility and risks.
We charge £400.00 for a half day course such as Fire Extinguisher or Fire Marshal, and if you required 2 course in the one day we would charge £700.00.
Yes, we do provide training to cover shift patterns which involve late night / early morning training as well as weekend courses, these may require a small addition to our standard costings.
