Fire Risk Assessments

What is Fire Risk Assessments?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect in October 2006 and replace over 70 pieces of fire law. It applies to all non-domestic premises in England and Wales, including the common parts of blocks of flats and houses in multiple occupation. The law applies to you if you are:-

Responsible for business premises.
An employer or self-employed with business premises.
Responsible for a part of a dwelling where the part is solely used for business purposes.
A charity or voluntary organisation.
A contractor with a degree of control over any premises.
A licensed premises.
Providing accommodation for paying guests.

Under the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005, the responsible person must carry out a fire safety risk assessment and implement and maintain a fire management plan.

Our Fire Risk Assessment format is easy to follow with educational as well as instructional in-depth feedback and guidance which benefits our clients in achieving full compliance. We have also developed our new Fire Ledger system which has been designed to follow the fire risk assessment process to maintain high standards of fire safety management and compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

FRA’s are generally annually, however, in some low-risk workplaces such as offices it may be acceptable to extend the period between assessments subject to the standard of fire safety management taking place.
In brief, there is the necessary assement of the buildings fire compartmentation and compliance, identification of any on site risks, and inspection of all current fire safety management documentation, policies, procedures, training, and maintenance records.
These vary from site to site but in general a visit can take from 2-3 hours to a full day.
We pride ourselves with being cost effective and reasonable and all FRA’s would need to be costed following additional site information.
The format that we use has been designed to give you clear and easy guidance to enable you to follow the process of compliance so that within our ‘findings for action’ page you can sign off any completed issues, once signed off you do not need to be re-assessed until the due date, and at the same time you are demonstrating to any relevant party such as visiting fire officers that you are responding and managing your fire safety compliance.
